Pretzel Dough

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C milk
  • 1/2 C water
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • 2 1/2 C bread flour
  • 1/3 can brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp butter

Baking Soda Bath

Ingredients

  • 2 C warm water
  • 2 Tbsp baking soda

Instructions

  1. Heat water and milk to 105°F. Stir in yeast and allow to proof for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and melted butter. Pour in yeast mixture. Knead until dough comes together in a ball. Dough should be slightly tacky.
  3. Lightly grease top with oil and allow to rise 45 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 410°F.
  5. Cut dough and roll out. Fold into pretzel shape. Dip into baking soda bath and pat dry.
  6. Bake for 7-8 minutes.
